Battle of Britain Tours is pleased to announce the start of its 2024 season of one day 'Hellfire Corner' battlefield tours in Kent from Saturday 30th March.
This thoughtfully crafted and locally inspired one day tour is intended for small groups who wish to have more personal attention and closer inter-action with your expert tour guide. You will have the opportunity to explore all elements of the fighter pilots experience in a location in which the fiercest fighting took place.Â
You will be driven in a spacious air-conditioned vehicle to the Kent coast. Here you will visit iconic and memorable sites such as:-
the White Cliffs of Dover with its commanding views over the Channel to France
the impressive Battle of Britain memorial at Capel-le-Ferne with its moving tributes to The Few
enjoy the authentic and moving atmosphere at Hawkinge fighter station and museum (which houses the largest private collection of Battle memorabilia in the world)
a quirky and original pub once frequented by aircrew in 1940 where you can enjoy a drink and re-live the previous few hours of respite for those who survived the day's fighting
You will conclude your trip in the most fitting way possible by hearing the stories and paying your respects to those airmen who were laid to rest in the nearby Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetery. This premium tour will instil a deep and authentic appreciation of the men who fought in the Battle of Britain.
